Cookie Notice
Last updated: 2026/10/08
This notice explains how Check My CoC uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read alongside our Privacy & POPIA Notice.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by your browser when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, and to provide information to the operator of the site.
2. The cookies we use
We only use strictly necessary cookies. We do not use advertising, analytics, profiling, or third-party tracking cookies. The cookies we set are:
- Session cookie — used to keep you signed in to your Check My CoC account. It is set when you log in and removed when you log out or when the session expires. Without this cookie you cannot use the authenticated parts of the Service.
- CSRF cookie — used to protect you against cross-site request forgery attacks. It pairs with a token in each form submission so that we can confirm requests originated from you.
3. Why we don't ask for cookie consent
South African law (POPIA and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act) does not require explicit consent for cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service that you have requested. Because we do not use any non-essential cookies, no consent banner is shown.
4. Managing cookies in your browser
You can clear or block cookies via your browser settings, but doing so will prevent you from signing in to Check My CoC or submitting forms.
5. Changes to this notice
If we ever introduce new cookies (for example, optional analytics), we will update this notice and ask for your consent before placing them on your device.
